ANTH 249 - Intro to Epidemiology&Biostats

This course introduces epidemiology, the study of patterns in disease and health outcomes within and between populations. Students learn how and why epidemiologists study disease outcomes and how to critically evaluate research in an epidemiologic framework. Content includes: measures of disease frequency, goals or motivations for epidemiologic research, epidemiologic study designs, including merits, limitations, and appropriate uses, and inference regarding disease causation.
