ANTH 583S - Envi Applications in GIS Credits: 4
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) offer powerful tools for analyzing and manipulating data central to the environmental sciences. This course introduces students to spatial thinking and GIS applications through a combination of lectures, discussion, and hands-on tutorials. Students will learn how to find, display, and query spatial data and produce map products. Students will then explore the application of spatial analytical tools to solve problems and address questions. The course focuses on applications and linking methods with research problems. Students will learn how to conceive of spatial data to solve problems in ecological, biological, geological, archaeological, anthropological, urban /regional planning, and sustainability domains.
