BCHM 425 - Molecular Biology Laboratory

In this research experience course, students will first learn a ‘toolbox’ of molecular biology techniques. We will then apply those techniques on a research project designed by the class that surveys the presence of antibiotics resistant bacteria in the environment. Techniques will include those commonly used in hospital diagnostics and genetic engineering as well as computational analysis of DNA sequencing data. Format: Lecture and laboratory. Prerequisites or Corequisites: BIOL 332 or BIOL/BCHM 301, 401, or 501. Simultaneously taught: *denotes primary course BCHM425 *BIOL425 BIOL503. BCHM students can register for BIOL sections when BCHM 425 fills.
