MATH 478 - Real Analysis I


Credits: 4

This is the first course in a 2-semester undergraduate real analysis sequence. This course covers fundamentals of mathematical analysis, including selected topics from the following: the construction of real numbers, the cardinality of sets, geometry and topology of metric space, the convergence of sequences and series, continuity, differentiability, Riemann integral, sequences and series of functions, uniformity, and the interchange of limit operations. It shows the utility of abstract concepts and teaches an understanding and construction of proofs. Prerequisites: C or better in each of MATH 304, MATH 323, and MATH 330, or consent of instructor. Fall only.
