THEA 569 - Theories Of Acting & Directing

Seminar survey of major theorists and practitioners of acting and directing of the twentieth century, focusing on Continental Europe and the United States. Pays particular attention to the legacy of naturalism and psychological realism, as well as directors and actors who challenge realistic approaches. Major course components include seminar discussion, workshop/presentation applying theoretical work and final research paper on rehearsal, acting, or directorial practice. Alternating Spring semesters.
