THEA 311 - Actor Training: Voice Work Credits: 4
Introduction to and exploration of a detailed progression of exercises designed to undo habitual physical and vocal patterns, deepen connection to the breath, and encourage a relaxed and freer use of the vocal mechanism. Using techniques based on voice trainers Linklater, Berry & Rodenburg, students will increase resonance, explore flexibility in pitch, range, and articulation. As we work with releasing the voice through the body, we will work viscerally with language and text, transforming communication and awakening interpretive skills. Outside of class rehearsals and 2-3 presentations required. The course includes reading and writing assignments. Prerequisite: THEA310 or permission of instructor. Repeatable. Offerings Vary by Semester.
