WRIT 346 - Writing For and About TV

Credits: 4

In the past decade, the number of TV shows has more than doubled. With more modes of consuming content than ever before, television has become a showcase for many of the world’s best writers. In our course, we will analyze a variety of genres to explore TV’s portrayal of societal issues. Using the writing process, students will construct arguments about screenwriters’ rhetorical and craft choices. Students will then use what they’ve learned from analyzing existing shows to pitch their own. Writers hoping to continue in the field will learn about competitions, internships, and jobs in the entertainment industry. Offered regularly.
