ANTH 548 - Biomarkers:Measure & Interpret Credits: 4
This course provides students an in-depth understanding of what makes a biomarker, how some commonly-used biomarkers measured, and their appropriate interpretation, with examples from biological anthropology and global public health. Students will learn the principles of enzyme immunoassay (or enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, ELISA), how techniques developed for clinical settings can be adapted for broader use, how new biomarkers are developed, and how biomarker definitions for disease outcomes are evaluated.
