Credits: 4

This course explores the ecological principles that shape the evolution of communication across the Animal Kingdom. We use information theory and statistical decision theory as a framework for understanding how communication reduces uncertainty, providing organisms with a means of estimating probable outcomes of fitness-related decisions. Prerequisites: BIOL 351 or 373 or 355 or 375. Offered regularly in fall.
