BME 485 - Quantum Biology


Credits: 3

This is a lecture-based course for engineering, science, and mathematics students interested in learning quantum information theory and its application to biology. The course covers fundamentals of vector space and linear transformations, quantum information theory, biological thermodynamics, biomolecules, cellular genetics, bioenergetics, quantum biological channel models, sources of genetic errors and generic noise, quantum-mechanical models for mutations and evolution, and classical and quantum theory in genetics and evolution. Prerequisites: MATH 227.
