BME 545X - Quantitative Physiol for Engr Credits: 3
This is a graduate course designed to foster a profound and rigorous understanding of human physiology from a quantitative and integrative perspective. The course will establish the fundamental physical, chemical, and mathematical principles of physiology and apply them to the study of membranes, transport, metabolism, excitable cells, and various organ systems, including the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, renal, and immune systems. The course strongly emphasizes the application of quantitative and engineering approaches to comprehend physiological concepts and highlights homeostasis and the integration between the different body systems. Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisite: Graduate Standing or Instructor Approval.
