SW Z521 - Adv Sw Prac/Individuals Credits: 3
This course will prepare students to engage in therapeutic interventions with individuals in a culturally competent manner while incorporating the bio-psycho-social-spiritual realities of that individual’s world. The course will be taught from a strength-based/ecological perspective and will focus on specific modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy. Further content on other evidence-based therapeutic approaches will be included to familiarize students with their tenets and parameters. Students will explore the role of individual treatment in social work’s history and development as it relates to current practice. The effects of policy and societal influences on the practice of individual treatment in its various settings will also be discussed.
Prerequisites: Foundation courses.
