UNIV 102 - First-Year Experience

UNIV/HARP 102 is a course for first-semester freshmen and new transfer students. It is team-taught by a faculty member and a professional staff member and includes a common reading for all sections as well as a focus on new student transitions. The reading will provide opportunities for students to think about and discuss current issues and will serve as the basis for short writing assignments, small-group discussions and other activities. The course is also devoted to new student transition topics, including exploring campus resources, developing oral communication skills and engaging in degree planning. Student are assigned a Discovery Advisor, a peer resource, to assist with college transition from a student perspective. NOTE: Students may not register for multiple sections of UNIV102/HARP 102. In addition, students will not receive credit for taking both UNIV 102/HARP 102 and HARP 101. Fall semester.
