Introduction to organic chemistry through a systematic treatment of the structure, reactivity and stereochemistry of the basic types of hydrocarbons (alkane, alkene, alkyne, arene), alkyl halides, and alcohols, as well as interconversion among these most important classes of organic compounds. For majors and non-majors. FORMAT: Two 85-minute Lectures per week, One 2-hour Discussion per week. Offered in Fall, Spring, and Summer I semesters. PREREQUISITES: CHEM 105 or 108 or 111 or AP score = 5.
