CHEM 581S - Spec. Topics In Material Chem

This course surveys the inorganic, solid-state materials that underlie today?s technologies in the energy sector to combat climate change. Topics include materials for electrochemical energy storage (batteries and capacitors), fuel cells, solar cells, thermoelectrics, and lighting. Each topic reviews the materials aspect of the technology and discusses the challenges and opportunities for materials development. Evaluation will be based on a final exam, case studies, projects, and class attendance. Credits: 4. Format: 3 hours of lecture. Offered: alternates with other 581 courses.
