EECE 438 - System On A Chip Design Credits: 3
This course will provide an overview of the components of system-on-a-chip (SOC) design from initial technology and architectural choices, to hardware/software design techniques (e.g., data/control flow modeling and implementation, embedded cores and coprocessors, hardware/software communication) as well as SOC implementation issues (e.g., performance, core selection, on-chip communication networks, power management, package constraints and cost). Also covered are SOC design and implementation processes (e.g., functional integration, simulation, clocking strategies, timing, design for test, and debug strategies). Technical elective. Prerequisites: EECE 287 and EECE 315. Offered every spring semester.
