EECE 480G - Quantum Electronics&Photonic

This course covers the fundamentals of optical and optoelectronic phenomena and devices, exploring classical and quantum properties of radiation and matter, with a focus on lasers and their applications. Topics include Maxwell’s electromagnetic waves, resonators and waveguides, quantum theory of light, light-matter interactions, cavity quantum electrodynamics, classical and quantum noise, spontaneous emission, laser physics and dynamics, and quantum light generation and manipulation. Applications span integrated photonics, semiconductor optoelectronics, nonlinear optics, and quantum optics. Designed for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, this course bridges theory and practice, preparing participants for further studies in semiconductor optoelectronic devices, quantum electronics, nanoscience, photonics, and quantum information science and engineering. Prerequisites: ISE 261 & EECE 212, or equivalent with permission from instructor. Offered in the Fall.
