GEOG 360 - Foundations of GIS Credits: 4
This course offers a broad overview of modern Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using industry-standard software and foundational techniques. Weekly hands-on exercises provide students the opportunity to map real-world phenomena, both locally and globally. Students will learn how to work with various types of spatial data, including raster and vector formats, and develop skills in data manipulation, geospatial analysis, and basic map design. This course aims to provide students with the conceptual understanding and technical skills necessary to both analyze and visualize geographic data, providing a solid foundation in GIS principles and practices. Offered regularly.
Please note: students that have taken GEOG 260 may not take GEOG 360 starting in Fall 2025.
