HMRT 250 - Human Rights, Global Justice

What are human rights, and how do they relate to other models of global justice? This course examines contemporary theories and practices of human rights in a global context. Topics include the international system of human rights, the uses and abuses of rights, who can claim human rights, local vernaculars of rights, and other approaches to global justice. Readings will be interdisciplinary and drawn from law, politics, philosophy, history, economics, literary and visual studies, and cultural criticism. Offered regularly.
