SW 300 - Intro Social Work Practice Credits: 4
“Introduction to Social Work is a course which is designed to introduce students to the profession of social work and to the programs, services and client populations that social workers serve. The course provides an overview of the historical and philosophical roots of social work; the professional value base that guides the profession; dimensions of human behavior and social problems; perspectives on issues of diversity, social justice and the impact of oppression; the social service delivery network and consumer populations; and the social work interventions of practice, policy and research.
This is an undergraduate course that may be taken as a pre-requisite for application to the Bachelors of Social Work Program.
Successful passage of this course may be taken in fulfilment of the N designation (Social Science) for General Education.
