THEA 308 - Intrmed Acting: Scene Study I


Credits: 4

This class is for students who wish to study acting in greater depth, building on the foundational acting techniques and concepts explored in THEA 207 or 208. Students will learn new psychophysical methods to apply to their monologue and scene study work. These new approaches will form the basis of the student actor?s investigation into the root of impulse, intention, and character. Assignments - reading, writing and embodied - will involve creative responses that will augment the actor?s experience of presence, partner, circumstance, and action. Rehearsals outside of class are required. This class is Repeatable. Please note: Students who received less than a C in THEA 207 or 208 must petition to and receive permission from the Acting/Directing Committee for a waiver in order to enroll in this course. Students who received less than a C+ in any of the following courses: THEA 310, 311 or any 389 performance class must petition to and receive permission from the Acting/Directing Committee for a waiver in order to enroll in this course. Pre-requisite: THEA 207 or 208.. Offered in Fall and Spring Semesters.
