TRIP 125 - Debates in Translation Credits: 4
This course introduces key ideas in the field of translation studies by examining public debates about translation. Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of specific instances of difficult translation cases, including by examining examples of bi-directional interactions between West and East. Readings are in English and examples are drawn from philosophy, literary works and their translations, and news stories and journalism. This is the foundation course for Translation Studies. Offered regularly in the fall.
