ANTH 450 - Graphic Anthropology

This class teaches visual storytelling as a means of communicating about scholarly research to various audiences. This means honing skills that we often consider subsidiary to scholarly endeavors (e.g. writing), but which can be crucial to presenting our ideas to other people. We will consider: A) in what situations visual representations can and should help scholars in developing, producing and disseminating research, B) the impact that graphic media can have in conjunction with and as distinct from written text, and C) how to decide which visual means are best suited to student skills, research interests, and professional goals. Offered every two years.
