This course will explore fundamental aspects of historic artifact analysis and address the crucial steps that connect theory and research questions to interpretation. We will discuss historic artifact classification systems, data base design, and quantitative and qualitative techniques of artifact analysis. Identification and interpretation of major historic material types will also be covered with particular emphasis on 19th and early 20th century material culture. Occasional.
