TURK 401 - Ottoman Turkish I

This is the second course in the Ottoman sequence. More advanced texts will be read, including documents provided by students from sources they are using in their own research. More advanced topics in Persian and Arabic grammar will be covered and, depending on students? research needs, other handwritten scripts, such as ta`lik and divani, will be introduced. Prerequisite: TURK 401, Ottoman I, or demonstrated equivalent linguistic and paleographic skill levels. Offered regularly.
