WRIT 317 - Foundations of Legal Writing


Credits: 4

Developing a strong defense, drafting a convincing brief, and winning a case all start with an ability to convince someone through strong communication skills. This course will teach students the foundations of legal writing and research, asking them to balance the expectations of various genres while also demonstrating a convincing argument. Over the course of the semester, students will learn how to engage with, analyze, and construct legal documents, such as legal memoranda, legal analyses, and brief case opinions. This course will also cover the basics of legal researching, teaching students how to find and interpret legal documents. Offered regularly.
