CS 432 - Database Systems
Introduction to the principles of database design and management. Topics include data modeling using entity-relationship and relational models, relational database design techniques, and query languages for database access including SQL. The course also introduces non-relational (NoSQL) databases and techniques for managing non-tabular data. Core database management concepts, such as query optimization, transaction management, and concurrency control, support large-scale data management used in modern computing applications, including data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning systems.
Prerequisite: CS 375, must have a grade of C- or better. Typically offered at least once every academic year. 3 credits.
