GEOG 360 - Foundations of GIS




This course offers a broad overview of modern Geographic Information Systems (GIS), a powerful framework for managing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data and for solving geographic problems. This course will introduce students to the fundamental concepts, tools, and applications of GIS. Through hands-on exercises using real-world data, this course aims to provide students with the conceptual understanding and technical skills necessary to both analyze and visualize geographic data, making it a valuable resource for those in a wide range of fields across the social sciences, physical sciences, health sciences and/or business. Offered regularly. 4 credits. Course fee applies. Refer to the Schedule of Classes. Please note: students that have taken GEOG 260 may not take GEOG 360 starting in Fall 2025.
