MATH 401 - Modern Algebra I



A rigorous introduction to abstract algebraic structures. Topics include groups, subgroups, homomorphisms, quotient groups, rings, integral domains, and fields. The course emphasizes the development of proof-writing skills and abstract mathematical reasoning. Prerequisites: C or better in both MATH 304 and MATH 330, or consent of instructor. Fall only. 4 credits.
