PSYC 363 - Behavioral Neuroscience Lab




This is a laboratory class that fulfills the lab requirement for the Psychology major. Overview of the tools used in the field of behavioral neuroscience involving live animals. Students will learn basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system and the fundamentals of research in behavioral neuroscience through laboratory exercises, short lectures and scientific papers. Includes discussions of the use of animals in neuroscience research, readings from the scientific literature, writing laboratory reports, using critical thinking for data interpretation, and communicating scientific knowledge in written and oral format. Prerequisites: PSYC 111 and PSYC 243 with a grade of C or higher, and PSYC 344 with a grade of C- or higher. Corequisite: PSYC 362, OR prerequisite PSYC 362 with a grade of C- or higher. Students who have credit for PSYC 364 Neuroscience Research Stream Part 2 will not receive credit for PSYC 363. Students must earn a grade of C- or higher for this course to apply to the major. Offered either fall or spring semester, 4 credits. Course fee applies.
