SPAN 249 - Com.Skills Heritage Learners
This course aims at preparing and empowering heritage speakers of Spanish to apply their bilingual/bicultural knowledge in academic, professional, and formal social settings. By working with a wide variety of sources (news, essays, academic articles, fiction, photography, arts) and formats (digital, visual, audiovisual, textual) students will further develop their critical, analytical, and creative skills in Spanish. They will also have the opportunity to interact in their heritage language with members of the local Latinx community. Prerequisite: SPAN 213, equivalent course or proficiency level, or instructor’s permission. Offered regularly. 4 credits.
