The School of Computing offers both undergraduate and graduate programs, an advanced certificate, and a micro-credential in Artificial Intelligence.
For students seeking to earn both an undergraduate degree and graduate degree, the School of Computing offers three 4+1 programs:
- BS Computer Science / MS Computer Science
- BS/BA Harpur Undergraduate Major / MS Information Systems
- BS Computer Science / MBA

Undergraduate Computer Science majors at Binghamton become effective, versatile coders and software developers using the C, C++, Python, and Java programming languages; develop an important foundational understanding of algorithms, computer architecture, and operating systems; and advance to study other cutting-edge topics including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data science, mobile computing, and more. Binghamton’s undergraduate Computer Science majors have the option to pursue an Artificial Intelligence track or a Cybersecurity track.
The MS in Computer Science program is designed for students interested in pursuing research studies or careers in computer science and software engineering. The curriculum provides students with a solid theoretical and practical foundation. Binghamton’s Computer Science master’s students have the option to pursue an Artificial Intelligence track or a Cybersecurity track.
The MS in Information Systems program is designed for students who are interested in a career in information technology and/or information systems. The curriculum provides students with information systems knowledge and tools that can be used to tackle real-world IT problems. Binghamton students in the MS in Information Systems program have the option to pursue an Applied Data Science track or a Cybersecurity track.
The PhD in Computer Science program was started in Fall 1999, and places a high priority on conducting transformative research to advance the fields of computer science and related technical fields. School faculty members, together with their PhD students, conduct world-class research in a broad spectrum of computer science areas. The PhD program’s goal is to provide graduate students with a firm foundation in computer science fundamentals and advanced research skills to best prepare them for successful careers in academia, industry, or other computer science-related fields.
