Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy 4+1 Programs

4+1 BS-MS in Materials Science and Engineering Program

Students interested in completing both a BS in physics and an MS in materials science and engineering in five years have the opportunity of doing so. Admission to the combined program is limited to students who have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 in both the major and in all subjects. Students finish the majority of coursework for the bachelor’s degree in a little over three years. In the fourth year, students combine bachelor’s and master’s-level courses. In the fifth year, students are admitted to the Graduate School and focus solely on graduate work, including research with MSE faculty. See the MSE program website for more information on pursuing a 4+1 degree.

Undergraduate credits: 126. Maximum Double counted credits: 12. Graduate credits: 30.

4+1 BA/BS-MBA Program

Students have the opportunity to complete either of the bachelor’s degrees in physics and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the School of Management Graduate Advising Office for questions regarding the MBA program.

Undergraduate credits: 126. Maximum Double counted credits: 18. Graduate credits: 32.

4+1 BA/BS -MPA Program

Students have the opportunity to complete both the Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the graduate program director for questions regarding the MPA program.

4+1 BA-MS SUST Program

Students have the opportunity to complete the BA and a MS in Sustainable Communities (MA) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the graduate program director for questions regarding the MA program.

Undergraduate credits: 126. Maximum Double counted credits: 18. Graduate credits: 38.

4+1 BA/BS -MS HESA Program

Students have the opportunity to complete the Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and a Master of Science in Higher Education and Student Affairs (MS HESA) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the graduate program director for questions regarding the MS HESA program.

Undergraduate credits: 126. Maximum Double counted credits: 18. Graduate credits: 45.

4+1 BA/BS -MPH Program

Students have the opportunity to complete the Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and a Master of Public Health (MPH) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the graduate program director for questions regarding the MPH program.

Undergraduate credits: 126. Maximum Double counted credits: 18. Graduate credits: 48.

4+1 BA/BS -MS BioMed Program

Students have the opportunity to complete both the Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and a Master of Biomedical Anthropology (BioMed) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the graduate program director for questions regarding the MS program.

4+1 BA/BS -MS HR Program

Students have the opportunity to complete both the Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and a Master of Human Rights (MS HR) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the College of Community and Public Affairs Graduate Advising Office for questions regarding the MS HR program.

4+1 BA/BS -MS GMAP Program

Students have the opportunity to complete both the Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and a Master of Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention (MS GMAP) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the College of Community and Public Affairs Graduate Advising Office for questions regarding the MS GMAP program.

4+1 BA/BS-MA TESOL Program

Students have the opportunity to complete both the Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) MA in five years.
