Harpur Wide Combined Degree Programs

In addition to the programs listed below, students are able to pursue a series of Harpur wide combined degree programs found here.

4+1 BA/BS Mathematical Sciences-MS Data Science and Statistics Program

Students have the opportunity to complete both the BA/BS degree in mathematical sciences (any track) and the MS in Data Science and Statistics in five years. Interested students should see their advisors or the undergraduate director early in the junior year to discuss requirements. Prerequisites of the MS Data Science and Statistics program include MATH 445 or MATH 446, MATH 447 , and MATH 448

Undergraduate credits: 126. Double-counted credits: 16. Graduate credits: 40.

4+1 BA/BS-MAT Mathematics Adolescence Education Program (Grades 7-12)

This program is specifically for students preparing for a career in secondary education in the area of mathematics and statistics.

This program combines the undergraduate BA and BS programs in mathematics (excluding the BA mathematics actuarial science track) and the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program. The accelerated degree program provides an opportunity for a limited number of outstanding liberal arts students to graduate in five years with a mathematics BA/BS and an MAT degree. The number of mathematics courses in this degree program is the same as for the BA/BS and MAT done separately.

Students who are interested in this degree program are advised to meet with the MAT mathematics coordinator in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Educational Leadership and the Coordinator of Undergraduate Advising in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the beginning of their sophomore year to ensure that all requirements are met in a timely manner and to learn about applying for the MAT component of the program.

A traditional MAT in Mathematics Adolescence Education requires 35 graduate credits, but due to graduate residency requirements, the 4+1 MAT requires 38 credits.

Undergraduate credits: 126. Double-counted credits: 12. Graduate credits: 38.
