Harpur Wide Combined Degree Programs

Harpur College has partnered with popular graduate programs across Binghamton University in order to create pathways that allow for most Harpur College undergraduate students to pursue a Binghamton graduate degree in just one additional year at the University. These combined degree programs allow the majority of Harpur undergraduates to pair their bachelor’s degree with the master’s options below. The full list of combined degree program options and program details can be found below.

Exclusions


The Masters of Public Administration (MPA) is not compatible with:

  • Geology BS
  • Studio Art BA
  • Music BA
  • Bachelor of Music in Performance MusB

The Biomedical Anthropology MS is not compatible with:

  • Geology BS

All remaining blanket programs are not compatible with:

  • Geology BS
  • Theatre BA

4+1 Blanket Programs


4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s- MA Economics Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a program in Harpur College and an MA in Economics in five years. To allow completion of both degrees in five years, students must take ECON 160, ECON 162, ECON 360 (micro theory), ECON 362 (macro theory), MATH 224 and MATH 225, and Statistics as prerequisites to admission in the program. Two graduate courses, taken in the fourth year, may double count between programs. These credits are flexible in where they apply based on a student’s situation and can be worked out with the Program Directors.

Students may apply to the department for admission to the five-year program in the second semester of their third year. Admission to the fifth year is by application to the Graduate School and is conditional on earning an average GPA of 3.0 in the two graduate courses taken in the fourth year.

Economics majors may not pursue this combined degree program.

4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s-MS Information Systems Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Science (MS) in Information Systems in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the graduate program director for questions regarding the MS program.

Undergraduate credits: 126. Maximum Double counted credits: 9. Graduate credits: 31.

4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s-MS Systems Science Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Science (MS) in Systems Science in five years. Students in this 4+1 program can also participate in the following MS SS concentrations: Health Systems and Executive Health Systems - Manhattan. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the graduate program director for questions regarding the MS program.

Undergraduate credits: 126. Maximum Double counted credits: 9. Graduate credits: 30.

4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s-MBA Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the School of Management Graduate Advising Office for questions regarding the MBA program.

Undergraduate credits: 126. Maximum Double counted credits: 18. Graduate credits: 54.

4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s-MPA Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in five years. 4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s-MS SUST Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and a MS in Sustainable Communities (MS SUST) in five years. 4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s-MS HESA Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Science in Higher Education and Student Affairs (MS HESA) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the graduate program director for questions regarding the MS HESA program.

Undergraduate credits: 126. Maximum Double counted credits: 18. Graduate credits: 45.

4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s-MPH Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Public Health (MPH) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the graduate program director for questions regarding the MPH program.

4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s-MA TESOL Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master in Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL) in five years. Students should see their school advising office for questions regarding the curriculum for the undergraduate degree and the graduate program director for questions regarding the MA program.

Undergraduate credits: 126. Maximum Double counted credits: 12. Graduate credits: 33.

4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s-MS BioMed Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Science in Biomedical Anthropology (MS BioMed) in five years. A GPA of 3.5 is recommended for admission to the accelerated master’s program. Applicants below this threshold may be considered based on academic trajectory, performance in relevant coursework, research experience, or faculty recommendations. If there are lower grades or unusual circumstances affecting GPA, applicants are encouraged to briefly explain these in their personal statement and highlight evidence of their readiness for graduate-level work. 4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s-MS HR Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Science in Human Rights (MS HR) in five years. 4+1 Harpur Bachelor’s-MS GMAP Program

Students have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Science in Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention (MS GMAP) in five years.
