Harpur Wide Combined Degree Programs

4+1 BS-MA Program
The five-year program in economics and finance offers the opportunity to enhance training with master’s level courses in economics and in finance, completing a Bachelor of Science in Economics (BS) with a specialization in financial economics and a Master of Arts in Financial Economic Analysis in five years. To allow completion of both degrees in five years, ECON 502 and ECON 504 , taken in the fourth year, will substitute for ECON 466 and ECON 467 . Credit for these courses will be applied to both programs.
Students may apply to the department for admission to the five-year program in the second semester of their third year. Admission to the fifth year is by application to the Graduate School and is conditional on earning an average GPA of 3.0 in the two graduate courses taken in the fourth year.
Undergraduate credits: 126. Double-count credits: 8. Graduate credits: 32.
4+1 BA-MA Program
The five-year program in economics offers majors the opportunity to enhance their training with master’s level courses in economics and in finance, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (BS) and a Master of Arts in Economics (MA) in five years. To allow completion of both degrees in five years, two 500-level courses approved by the Department, taken in the fourth year, will substitute for two 400-level economics electives. Credits for these courses will be applied to both programs.
