Binghamton University’s business administration program prepares students for successful careers. Consistently ranked as one of the best public business schools in the nation, the School of Management ensures that students learn the soft skills, such as teamwork and communication, and technical skills needed to become leaders in an economy driven by disruption and innovation. Through experiential learning opportunities, including case competitions and project courses, students explore decision-making challenges in complex contexts and situations and develop innovative solutions considering legal, environmental, and societal factors. Our curriculum is enhanced with analytics requirements to ensure students can interpret and communicate data-driven discoveries.
Students can complete a concentration in a number of areas including business analytics, entrepreneurship, finance, management information systems, marketing, and quantitative finance.

Program Requirements
To receive a BS in Business Administration (BSBA), students must complete 126 credit hours. Of the 126 credits: In addition, students must earn: In addition to the credit and GPA requirements outlined above, students must complete the coursework outlined below. University General Education Requirements
All Binghamton University undergraduate students are required to fulfill this set of university-wide requirements to ensure that every graduate acquires the essential core of a SUNY university undergraduate education. Please refer to the general education section in the Academic Policies and Procedures for Undergraduate Students or the General Education page for more information. Course Requirements
To be granted a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from SOM, students must complete the following courses: A. Liberal Arts Requirements
Students must complete 63 credits of Liberal Arts and Sciences coursework which mostly includes the general education requirements and the following courses and additional requirements: - In addition to the C or J attribute writing course required to fulfill the Binghamton University General Education Requirements , School of Management students must take a second course with a C or J attribute. If a student has completed one C or J course for a letter grade, they may satisfy the second writing requirement in one of the following ways:
- Taking a second course with a C or J attribute
- By completing two writing-intensive (W) courses
- By using approved exam credit (AP Composition, AP Literature, AP Seminar or IB HL Language A).
- The following course (or its equivalent) must be completed before the second-year core classes:
- CQS 112 - Statistics For Management*
- The following courses (or their equivalents) must be completed before the third-year core classes:
- MATH 220 - Calculus For Business & Mgmt**
- ECON 160 - Principles of Microeconomics
- ECON 162 - Principles Of Macroeconomics
B. School of Management Requirements
C. Electives or Second Concentration
Students must complete electives as needed in order to meet degree completion requirements. Students may complete a second concentration to fulfill elective requirements. D. Concentration Requirements and Preprequisites
Students select a concentration to gain in-depth knowledge and specialized training in specific areas of business. Concentration elective guide sheets listing approved courses are available in the School of Management Undergraduate Academic Advising Office. Each concentration requires at least five courses. Students enrolled in the BS in Business Administration program may declare one or more concentrations. Students who do not declare a concentration will be enrolled in the general Management concentration by default. Note: to have a concentration awarded and reflected on the transcript, students must earn a minimum 2.7 GPA in all required SOM courses within that concentration (this GPA requirement does not apply to the Management concentration). Only courses taken at Binghamton University or through an approved study abroad program count toward the concentration GPA. Concentration Declaration Requirements: -
Business Analytics: Cumulative Binghamton GPA of 3.5 or higher; at least 56 completed credit hours; and a grade of B- or higher in CQS 312. -
Entrepreneurship: Grade of B- or higher in MKTG 311 - Introduction to Marketing. -
Finance: Grade of B- or higher in FIN 311 - Financial Management. -
Management Information Systems: Grade of B- or higher in MIS 311 - Information Systems and Applications. -
Marketing: Grade of B- or higher in MKTG 311 - Introduction to Marketing. -
Quantitative Finance: Cumulative Binghamton GPA of 3.5 or higher; at least 56 completed credit hours; and a grade of B or higher in FIN 311 - Financial Management. Finance
- FIN 322 - Investments
- ANY four additional finance courses numbered between 320 and 481(A-Z), carrying three to four credits, with the subject code of FIN.
Management
Students in the management concentration complete five (3-4 credit) courses in the following areas, provided they are numbered 320 or higher and are not part of the core business curriculum. Students not wishing to declare a specialization concentration will be enrolled in the management concentration by default. - ACCT

Management Information Systems
- MIS 323 - Systems Analy. & Specification
- Four additional courses in MIS
- These courses must have a subject code of MIS, be numbered between 320-481 (A-Z), and carry at least three credit hours.
Marketing
- One Course in Marketing Analytics:
- Four additional courses that have a subject code of MKTG:
- Must be numbered between 320-481 (A-Z) and carry at least three credit hours.
- The following courses can replace one of the four additional MKTG courses:

*No more than one introductory statistics course may count toward the degree. **If students do not place into MATH 220 or MATH 223, then MATH 108 (or the equivalent) is also a required course to complete for the major. If students do not place into MATH 108, then MATH 107 is also required to complete the major. ***Transfer students who have taken an introduction to management course AND an Excel-based course at their previous institution(s) will be awarded credit for MGMT 111. Nonetheless, these transfer students must take a zero-credit MGMT 211 offered by the School of Management. |
